Liverpool

Star performer

CHARLIE ADAM is still very much in the early stages of Liverpool life since his switch from Blackpool.

But he impressed in Asia, and has shown signs he will cope with the higher demands well.

New signings

WHILE Charlie Adam has done well, Stewart Downing and Jordan Henderson started for the first time last night in Norway.

And winger Downing showed enough flashes for optimism.

Outstanding youngster

MIDFIELDER Conor Coady, 18, showed why so many at Anfield say he is destined for the top by impressing on the Asia trip.

Winger Raheem Sterling, 16, is also tipped for big things.

Tactics

A MIXED bag so far. Charlie Adam's left-foot radar has been impressive in picking out striker Andy Carroll.

But only when Uruguayan Luis Suarez returns from extended leave after the Copa America will the tactics really become evident.

Good enough to win title?

STILL no more than an outside bet, although top four could well be within reach.

For all they have improved, and they have, there is still much to be done to trouble the top dogs - especially at the back.

Weaknesses

SHIPPED a worrying 15 goals in just five pre-season games.

And they have hardly been up against the toughest of opponents. Their Defence needs strengthening - and quickly.

Strengths

LIVERPOOL will score goals for fun this year, with just about everyone capable of contributing.

Much revolves around Luis Suarez picking up where he left off.

What else is needed?

THE search for a left back goes on, while a new central defender is also a priority.

Downing solves the problem of a natural winger, but another back-up striker wouldn't go amiss either.
